CHOCOLATE MINT NOURISHING HEEL SALVE

This chocolate mint nourishing heel salve locks in moisture like nothing else I’ve tried! Apply it to dry, cracked, or rough areas on feet.

It’s wintertime, and you know what that means. Cold nights by the fire, marshmallow-topped hot cocoa, and, let’s not forget, dry skin. Yep, I said it. Winter wreaks havoc on nearly everyone’s skin. For some, it’s their hands or elbows; others deal with dry, chapped lips, and in my case, heels are the worst!

I’ve tried countless lotions and several products labeled to resolve cracked heels in past years. Most failed, and some seemed to be helping, but the results always wore off before the day’s end. Maybe you can relate?

Recently, I began reading about beeswax salves and decided to formulate my own to nourish and repair cracked heels. I’m excited to share this chocolate mint nourishing heel salve with you here, so you can say goodbye to dry, rough heels too!

What works for cracked heels?

When you’re suffering from painful cracked heels, there are a few things you can turn to make a heel salve. The first of which is beeswax. Alone it can be very healing and locks in moisture with a protective layer to your skin.

The next of which is body butter. I choose to add cocoa butter, a rich moisturizer known for its high content of vitamin E and fatty acids. I also included one of my all-time favorites, coconut oil, for its moisturizing properties. In addition to, apricot oil a carrier oil that absorbs quickly into the skin while providing deep moisturizing benefits.

Lastly, I added pure vitamin E oil and tea tree essential oil. Combined with cocoa butter in its pure non-deodorized form, this salve has a wonderful chocolate mint aroma.

You may just want to eat it; my toddler certainly did. She kept asking for more on her hands the first time I made it, only to find her licking them after!
