What is the best homemade face scrub?

A vitamin-rich homemade face scrub packed with antioxidants designed to gently exfoliate with natural alpha-hydroxy acids often referred to as AHAs is the best way to reveal soft, smooth, vibrant skin at home.

As it turns out, sugar is a good source of AHAs as it contains glycolic acid. In fact, DIY sugar scrubs are effective at removing dead skin cells. So if you were wondering if a sugar scrub is good for the face, it is! And superfine sugar and coconut sugar, as well as, granulated sugar are best. Each exfoliates with a delicate touch. Always steer clear of salts, especially coarse salts, and raw sugar, for that matter, when creating face scrubs to avoid over-exfoliating.

We all want glowing skin, or a fresher-looking face, right?

Well, I recently made pomegranate pink clay soap topped with dried pomegranate flower petals. They came out beautifully!! The vibrant color and sweet, fruity smell had me thinking. Why not make a homemade sugar scrub with pomegranate oil, powder, and petals too?

Pomegranate is not only pretty, it’s loaded with antioxidants that reduce inflammation and promote regeneration of the epidermis, facilitating skin repair according to science. Along with vitamin C that helps to delay the signs of aging.

Combine pomegranate with carrier oils such as argan and coconut to make a big impact on the health and condition of your skin.

Known for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, argan oil protects the skin from aging free-radical damage and increases cell regeneration. If you’re showing any sign of aging in your face this is one ingredient not to overlook. Containing omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants argan oil is incredible for the skin!

And anyone with blemish-prone areas will appreciate the addition of natural antibacterial coconut oil that can reduce bacteria on the skin. As well as the benefit of citrus essential oils: grapefruit and bergamot.

But, when it comes to the skin and especially your face, all ingredients are not exactly a “one size fits all”. While many are beneficial to multiple types of skin some are “hands-off” for oily skin and others are a game-changer for aging skin.

Because everyone’s skin is different and what works for one of us (or even for most of us) may not work for everybody. Luckily, this recipe is easy to customize for your skin type. Don’t know your skin type? Take our quiz!

How often should you exfoliate with a face scrub?

Once a week is ideal but, depending on your skin type or current weather conditions you may want to use a DIY exfoliating face scrub up to three times a week for glowing skin. (I have combination skin and apply a face scrub twice a week.) You’ll find the right timing for your skin too, once you get started.

No matter when you start, applying this pomegranate homemade face scrub will clear clogged pores and shed dead skin cells. Helping to prevent blemishes and blackheads while restoring your skin with the perfect balance of ingredients.

What is the best way to exfoliate your face?

What is the best way to exfoliate your face?

Even if you’re not guilty of these skincare mistakes, daily sun exposure and other outside elements can give any of us unpleasant dry, cracked skin. And our natural cycle of shedding skin, oil production, and makeup use alone can clog pores over time. Thankfully, applying a face scrub can exfoliate the face revealing fresh, glowing skin beneath. Here’s how to do a face scrub at home:

To Apply A Face Scrub:

  • Scoop a small amount of the face scrub into your hand.
  • Apply to your face in upward strokes using your fingertips.
  • Gently massage the scrub in a circular motion to remove dry, dead skin cells.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes and rinse with water. Gently wipe clean as needed with a damp warm washcloth and pat dry.

It’s a good idea to apply a face moisturizer after exfoliating with a face scrub. Repeat 1 to 3 times a week for glowing skin.

A DIY face scrub is a great way to get glowing skin right at home!

What I love about this DIY exfoliating face scrub is that it is very gentle, so if you’ve tried other face scrubs that left your skin feeling sensitive – you’ll love this face scrub recipe!  It may be gentle but, it’s still a powerful face exfoliator (clogged pores, no more).

I also love the fact that it doesn’t dry my skin out like some scrubs I’ve tried. Instead, the combination of oils leaves your skin feeling moisturized with a natural glow.  And my skin feels super smooth and polished. Moreover, my skin is supple, nourished, and younger-looking after exfoliating my face with this DIY scrub.
