Summer Chillin’ with Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub
When summer heats up I look for ways to cool down. Cool drinks from my herb garden like Strawberry Basil Infused Water and Lavender Lemonade are one of my favorite ways to cool off. My sister’s recipe for a cucumber chiller published in our cookbook series Bittersweet Walnut Grove inspired today’s Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub.
We can drink a whole pitcher of it while cooking all day! It’s a good thing we grow a lot of cucumber around here… Fresh cucumber is known to replenish and soothe the skin. That’s why the put cucumber slices over their eyes at the spa. It’s a no wonder, with all the antioxidants packed inside. Cool Off with Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub
This a great scrub to use after a day spent in the sun. The natural cane sugar will slough away dead skins and dirt if you’ve been working in the garden. In addition to the cucumber, coconut oil will help soften the skin. Add mint leaves from the garden and an essential oil combination for a fresh clean fragrance like no other!
Ingredients for Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub
¼ cup cucumber, unpeeled (about 4 slices)
4 tablespoons coconut oil, unrefined
1 cup natural cane sugar
4 leaves fresh mint
4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
2 – 4 ounce airtight jars
Instructions to make Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub
Puree cucumber slices and mint leaves until they are tiny specks of green; approximately 2 minutes. Add two tablespoons of coconut oil and one cup of sugar. Blend until smooth. Pour cucumber mint puree into a glass mixing bowl. Add remaining coconut oil and stir until smooth. Last, add 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 2 drops lemon essential oil. Stir to combine and pour into an airtight container. Use Refreshing Cucumber Mint Body Scrub within two weeks or store in the refrigerator for longer use, due to the fresh ingredients.
