What’s Blue Got To Do With It?

Did you know blue cornflower, Centaurea cyanus, translates to “dark blue” in greek? A member of the daisy family, commonly known as “Bachelor Button,” cornflowers’ deep blue comes from its anthocyanins, particularly beneficial for sensitive, irritated skin. When applied topically, it tones, soothes irritation, restores suppleness, and boosts the skin’s overall appearance.

Blue cornflower is an incredible aid to recovery after an acne flare-up!

However, blue tansy, a lesser-known flower, is the bluest of them all! It contains the highest concentration of chamazulene than any flower, which happens to be an anti-inflammatory compound.

What exactly is blue tansy? Most often used as an essential oil blue tansy, Tanacetum annuum, is derived from Moroccan chamomile, a rare tiny flower only native to Morocco. The vibrant blue color comes through during the steam distillation process.

And if you’re questioning what does blue tansy do for your skin, its combination of limonene, linalool, camphor, a-terpineol, and antioxidants, offer antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that cleanse the skin, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and help stop flare-ups in their tracks!
