Is chocolate good for lips?

Chocolate might seem like an odd choice for skincare, but if you’re questioning if chocolate is good for the lips, the answer is – yes! Because chocolate comes from the cacao bean, which contains a high amount of “good for the skin” fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E.

And this lip balm recipe uses cocoa butter extract from the cacao bean with all its moisturizing skincare benefits. It’s truly a dream for the skin that softens and smoothes lips with a lasting glow.

So if you wondered what is healthy to put on your lips? And if cocoa butter makes a good lip balm, you can trust me on this. Because it has all the qualities, a girl could ask for in a lip balm.

Cocoa Butter Lip Balm Benefits:

  • Easy to Apply – yep, it melts on contact with the skin
  • Tastes Good – kissable, lickable, chocolatey, good
  • Nourishing – very
  • Supple – check
  • Creamy Texture – double check

Unrefined cocoa butter is the best because it still has its natural chocolate scent and taste. I use it to make massage candles too! You can buy it in a block or cocoa butter wafers as well.

And If You Want Extra Chocolate Lip Balm

You can add one or two ingredients to make extra chocolate lip balm. The first is raw cacao powder. Not to be confused with cocoa powder, cacao is a true powerhouse of benefits for the skin.

The chocolate scent and taste are only icing on the cake when you take into account all the antioxidants and nutrients it contains.  Because cacao powder retains the cacao bean’s naturally occurring fiber, magnesium, and antioxidants—amongst a whole bunch of other nutrients!

Where do you find organic cacao powder? A Whole Foods store near you carries it; this is what you’re looking for.

The second way to add a boost of chocolate is by using a natural chocolate flavor or extract. I chose Makesy’s chocolate truffle flavor; its silky hints of smooth vanilla and creamy milk chocolate reminisce a deliciously cozy flavor of rich chocolate topped with whipped cream.

I love the fact that it’s carcinogen-free, phthalate-free, vegan, and made with no synthetic additives. You can take 10% off your total order using my code CREATEWITHKRISTY10

Whatever level of chocolate you choose, all the ingredients come together in under five minutes, so you’ll be smacking your chocolate lips in no time!

Here’s How To Make Chocolate Lip Balm To Satisfy All The Cravings

This chocolate lip balm recipe is dessert-worthy and made with the real deal for creamy, chocolaty smooth lips. Moisturizing ingredients melt together to create a rich chocolate flavor and the perfect texture to melt on the first kiss. Think of it as your guilt-free pass to fulfill a chocolate craving.

Chocolate Lip Balm Ingredients & Supplies:

6 lip balm tubes

2 teaspoons beeswax pastilles

½ tablespoon unrefined coconut oil

1 teaspoon unrefined cocoa butter

½ teaspoon chocolate extract or natural chocolate flavoring

⅛ teaspoon cacao powder (optional)

Chocolate Lip Balm Recipe:

Cover your work area, remove the lid from each lip balm tube, and twist them down to create the largest opening. Next, measure 2 teaspoons of beeswax pastilles and pour them into a glass measuring cup.

Add 1 teaspoon of unrefined cocoa butter to the beeswax and melt in three 30-second intervals, stirring in between. (If you don’t have a microwave, you can melt the ingredients on low heat in a double boiler.)

Once melted, remove from the microwave and add ½ tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil. Stir it into the lip balm mixture and add ½ teaspoon of chocolate extract or natural chocolate flavoring and an optional ⅛ teaspoon of cacao powder. (Adding the cacao powder will make the lip balm brown.)

Then carefully pour the lip balm mixture into each lip balm tube. (A lip balm tray can come in handy.) Allow the lip balm to cool for approximately 30 minutes before removing each from the tray and covering each with a lid.

I find it’s best to let the lip balm harden for 24 hours before use.
