A Little Known Way to Conquer and Remove Soap Scum

A Little Known Way to Conquer Annoying Soap Scum

Is it just me, or does staring at soap scum in the shower annoy you too? There’s nothing less aggravating than taking a hot, steamy shower to reduce stress and then seeing a ring around the tub or scum on the shower walls staring back at you.

Soap scum happens when the ingredients in soap react with minerals in water and cling to surfaces. And if you are unfortunate like me and have hard water – it will only be worse.

On top of that, soap scum isn’t just leftover soap and minerals. It is also combined with dirt, grime, bacteria, body oils, and sloughed-off skin cells. Eew… When soap scum builds up in between cleanings, it hardens.  And the longer the delay between cleaning the more it builds up turning to almost concrete, making it very difficult to remove.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I am definitely going to try this at home. I have tried to find a homemade spray I like for the shower, but nothing does the tough job we need 🙂 This one is great — and I love your bottle label — so cute!
