Because, like most things, when you’re looking for the best homemade face scrub, it’s all about the ingredients.

What does honey do to your face?

Why is honey good for the skin? I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it – honey is not only a delicious sweetener but also a spectacular treat for the skin. Here’s why honey is good for the skin:

Antibacterial Properties:

Honey has natural antibacterial properties, which means it can help prevent and treat acne by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that can cause breakouts.

Moisturizing:

Honey is a natural humectant that helps retain moisture in the skin. This can make the skin feel soft and smooth.

Anti-inflammatory Benefits:

Honey has anti-inflammatory properties, which can aid in reducing redness and irritation in the skin.

Rich In Antioxidants:

Honey is rich in antioxidants, which can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This can, in turn, slows down the aging process and keeps the skin looking youthful.

In this recipe, I use honey powder that dissolves seamlessly as you exfoliate and raw honey for its natural effectiveness in promoting healthy, glowing skin.

How is lavender beneficial to the skin?

Lavender is a versatile herb that has been used for centuries for a myriad of things. And skincare is just one of lavender’s many uses, but it offers several benefits for the skin, including:

Anti-inflammatory Properties:

Lavender has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and calm irritated skin.

Antioxidant Activity:

Lavender contains antioxidants that can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.

Relaxation and Stress Relief:

The scent of lavender has a relaxing effect on the mind and body. When used in skincare products or as aromatherapy, it can help reduce stress and promote better sleep, which can, in effect, benefit the skin.

Acne Treatment:

Lavender has antibacterial properties that can help combat acne-causing bacteria. And it can also help regulate the overproduction of sebum, which can lead to breakouts.

I use lavender essential oil in this recipe to benefit the skin. You can also add a pinch of dried lavender for additional exfoliating perks.

Now you can refresh your skin with this exfoliating face scrub by eliminating dead skin cells and revealing smoother, brighter skin with ease!

Lavender Honey Face Scrub Ingredients:

½ tablespoon honey powder

1 tablespoon jojoba oil

5 to 10 drops of lavender essential oil

How To Make A Face Scrub:

  1. Start by combining ½ tablespoon of honey powder with 1 tablespoon of fine caster sugar. (If you don’t have finely ground sugar, add regular sugar to your food processor and grind it until it’s nearly powder.)
  2. Then add 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil and 5 to 10 drops of lavender essential oil to the dry mixture. Use a whisk or fork to blend the ingredients until a scrub forms.
  3. Next, add 1 tablespoon of raw honey to the scrub mixture and stir. Things will get sticky quickly, so scoop it into an airtight container and store it away from heat. Use this scrub within two to three months.

How often should you use a facial scrub?

If you’re wondering if you can use a honey scrub every day, the answer is NO. Twice a week is ideal for how often to use face scrub for all skin types.

When should I use a face scrub?

I’m often asked when you should use a face scrub. Should you use a face scrub first or a face wash first? I find it’s best to cleanse your face first so the scrub can do a better job of removing the stuff your daily cleanser doesn’t! So, remove your makeup first, then exfoliate.

How many minutes should I scrub my face?

Two minutes, the same amount of time it takes to brush your teeth thoroughly, is generally sufficient. If you have some areas with built-up dead skin or blackheads, spend a little more time on those areas.

How To Apply A Face Scrub:

  1. After cleansing your face and hands, scoop a small amount of the face scrub onto the tips of your finger pads with a face scrub spoon.
  2. Apply the honey face scrub in upward strokes using your fingertips.
  3. Then gently massage the face scrub with small circular motions, avoiding the eye area.
  4. Next, rinse with warm water or a damp washcloth and pat dry.

After a scrub, what should you apply to your face?

Apply a face moisturizer such as my homemade aloe vera face cream, following a face scrub.
